Earlier this week we had what I playfully called the “Parabolic Heat Wave” just because the temperatures, if graphed, were going up then down like a Parabolic Curve, or for the non-math-majors, an upside-down U. (My math skills were a bit off because in reality, our highs weren’t quite equidistant on both sides of the peak heat.)
Well, the pattern is setting up for a repeat, but this time, it’s not quite a parabolic curve, more like… I dunno… an EKG? Like when your heartbeat does the tiny spike right before the larger spike?

SO, IT’S AN “EKG” HEAT WAVE? REALLY?
Better than an “EEK!” heat wave though?
The tiny blip is coming Friday as we get a minor bump in temperatures just in time for our big day on the international stage for the USA/Australia World Cup game.
Depending on your perspective, it’ll either be the most amazing Seattle weather day ever with blazing sunshine and low 80s with comfortable humidity… or the worst possible weather as billions get first hand proof it doesn’t rain every day in Seattle. Reputation, ruined?
A very weak trough will sneak by Friday night into Saturday and do nothing more than just temporarily cool us off a bit as the marine breeze returns. Expect some morning clouds Saturday but sunshine breaking out eventually with highs back in the mid 70s.
But then it’s nearly déjà vu for next week, only about a day later on the weekday schedule We’ll start to rebound on Sunday with highs in the low 80s — all outdoor Father’s Day activities are a go! — then briefly get hot again as we spend two days flirting with 90 Monday and Tuesday while a thermal trough moves into and through Western Washington — the big “blip” in our EKG visual.

We should start to cool off again toward the end of the week with the coast cooling Tuesday and inland areas starting to cool off on Wednesday, with more solid cooling Thursday into the following weekend.
Rain? Nope. Sorry rain fans 🙁 It is officially…not our season. Maybe we can piggy back with some of the Australia fans home and partake in some July Australian winter weather.
Sun fans? Long range models show more of the same sunshine and warmth. Just try not to get too excited we can only take so many EKG Heat Waves…(OK yeah that’s…not going to stick…)
